Who We Are

“Gathering Place for a Better Tomorrow”

Mamele’awt Qweesome and To’o Housing Society is a non-profit housing society created to meet the critical need for affordable, safe housing and complementary services (childcare, healthcare, continuing education, and family support) for Aboriginal people in the Fraser Valley.

Created in 1987, Mamele’awt Qweesome Housing Society (previously Mission Native Housing Society) formed to address housing shortages in Mission and surrounding areas, and to give a unified voice to Aboriginal peoples in need of safe, affordable housing. Our support services and projects have grown alongside our mandate, expanding throughout the Fraser Valley to the communities of Abbotsford, Agassiz, Chilliwack, Harrison, Hope, Mission, and Yarrow.

MQHS currently owns and manages 122 rental units for low and moderate-income aboriginal Elders, special needs individuals and family clients, predominantly focused on support for Aboriginal people. Most our housing is geared towards meeting the needs of those who are currently homeless or at-risk of becoming homelessness.

Through commitments from local, regional, and national partners, plus dedicated community members, volunteers, and our passionate team, we have provided housing to several generations since our inception almost 30 years ago.
